NinerNotice: Update on Canvas Outage

The outage with Canvas affected approximately 9,000 institutions worldwide and is connected to a security incident involving the vendor.
What you need to know:
- Out of an abundance of caution, OneIT temporarily disabled single sign-on access to Canvas to help protect University data.
- As of this morning, Canvas reports that service has been restored for most clients. OneIT is actively testing the platform to ensure it is safe to resume single sign-on access at UNC Charlotte.
- If testing is successful, access is expected to be restored sometime this afternoon.
- Deadlines for assignments and exams affected by the outage will be extended. The deadline for faculty grade submission also will be extended. Academic Affairs will provide additional details directly to faculty this afternoon.
The University will share more information about service restoration and next steps no later than 2 p.m. today, Friday, May 8.
