NinerNotice: Quarterly NinerAlert System Test Dec. 17

Categories: NinerNotice

The quarterly test of the NinerAlert system will occur at approximately 9 a.m., tomorrow, Wednesday, Dec. 17, and will last about 10 minutes.

The test assesses the functionality of the emergency notification system, helping the Department of Safety and Security train and prepare for emergency situations.

What you should know:

  • You will receive NinerAlert messages no matter your proximity to campus. The messages will be clearly labeled as test messages, and will be deployed as text messages, emails, social media posts, digital screen notifications, campus sirens and LiveSafe app notifications.
  • No action is required of you. Students, faculty, staff and visitors should continue their daily functions.

Please note: Though you will receive NinerAlerts, this is only a test, and the initial and “all clear” alerts will be marked clearly as test messages. In the event of an actual emergency, the test will be canceled and you will receive directions through the alert system.

Those who have visitors or other scheduled events during this time are encouraged to share this information with their guests.

Reminder: Faculty, staff and students are auto-enrolled to receive NinerAlerts. Visitors, guests and family members can sign up to receive text alerts. This is a separate list from the NinerNotice list, so if any non-affiliated individuals are not signed up for NinerAlerts they will not receive these test messages.
