NinerNotice: Carjacking Reported on Campus; No Ongoing Threat

Today, Thursday, March 23, shortly after 2 p.m., the UNC Charlotte Police Department received a call from CMPD that a carjacking in Lot 5, near the intersection of Van Landingham Rd. and Martin Village Rd. on the perimeter of campus, had been reported to them. 

Officers responded immediately to a student who reported their car was taken at gunpoint.  There were no injuries reported. 

The 4-door, burgundy Jeep Wrangler Rubicon was seen leaving campus via Old Concord Rd. toward W.T. Harris Blvd.  The suspect is described as a Black man in his late twenties, wearing a black sweatshirt, a black head covering and dark pants. The gun he brandished is described as a pistol with camouflage markings. 

There is no ongoing threat to campus, but you may continue to see increased police presence in the area.
